Considerations when choosing a bearing type

Nowadays, the bearing is widely used, and the bearing type is also increasing. What factors should be considered when selecting the bearing type? Next, the central axis network will take everyone to look at it.

1. Bearing load

The size, direction and nature of the load on the bearing are the main basis for selecting the type of bearing. When selecting the type of bearing according to the size of the load, since the main components in the roller bearing are in line contact, it is suitable for receiving a large load and the deformation after the bearing is small. Ball bearings are point contacts and should be used to withstand light or medium loads, so ball bearings should be preferred when the load is small. When selecting the bearing type according to the direction of the load, thrust bearings are generally used for pure axial loads. Thrust ball bearings are available for smaller pure axial loads; thrust roller bearings are available for larger pure axial loads. For pure radial loads, deep groove ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings or needle bearings are generally used. When the bearing is subjected to the radial load R and there is a small axial load A, a deep groove ball bearing or an angular contact ball bearing or a tapered roller bearing with a small contact angle may be selected; when the axial load is large In the case of an angular contact ball bearing or a tapered roller bearing with a large contact angle, or a combination of a radial bearing and a thrust bearing, a radial load and an axial load are respectively employed.

2. Bearing speed

At normal speed, the speed does not affect the choice of type, only when the speed is high, there will be a significant impact. The limit speeds of bearings of various types and sizes are included in the bearing samples. This limit speed refers to the maximum allowable speed when the load is not too large (P ≤ 0.1C, C is the basic dynamic load rating), the cooling condition is normal, and the bearing is a 0-level tolerance bearing. However, since the limit speed is mainly limited by the temperature rise during operation, the limit speed in the sample cannot be considered as an absolutely unsurpassable limit. If the working speed of the bearing exceeds the limit speed, the following fifth measure can be taken.
From the requirements of the speed to the bearing, the following points can be determined:

1) Ball bearings have higher limit speeds than roller bearings, so ball bearings should be preferred when moving at high speeds;

2) Under the same inner diameter, the smaller the outer diameter, the lighter the rolling element, and the smaller the centrifugal inertia force of the rolling element on the outer ring raceway during operation, it is more suitable for working at higher speeds. . Therefore, at high speeds, bearings of ultra-light, extra-light and light series should be used. Heavy and extra heavy series bearings are only used in low speed and heavy load applications. If a light series bearing is used and the bearing capacity is not up to standard, a wide series of bearings can be considered, or two light series bearings can be used together.

3) The material and structure of the cage have a great influence on the bearing speed. The solid cage allows for a higher rotational speed than the stamped cage.

4) The limit speed of the thrust bearing is very low. When the working speed is high, if the axial load is not very large, the angular contact ball bearing can be used to withstand the pure axial force.

5) If the working speed slightly exceeds the limit speed specified in the sample, you can increase the tolerance level of the bearing, or increase the radial clearance of the bearing appropriately, use circulating lubrication or oil mist lubrication, and strengthen the cooling of the circulating oil to improve the measures. The bearing tells the performance. If the working speed exceeds the limit speed, special high-speed rolling bearings should be used.
